Miranda Lambert Releases New Album, "Crisco"
By P.A Geddie
The most awarded artist in Academy of Country Music Awards history, Miranda Lambert, is set to release her new album, Crisco, on October 2 via MCA. The Lindale, Texas, native produced the album with Jesse Frasure including a dozen tracks featuring a 70s-inspired title track along with “Till the Going’s Gone,” both already on major streaming platforms. The album also includes “A Song to Sing,” her Grammy-nominated duet with Chris Stapleton released last year.
The complete Crisco track list includes 1. “Snakeskin Boots,” 2. “Crisco,” 3. “Cowgirl Curtsy,” 4. “Two Things Can Be True,” 5. “Cuttin’ Onions,” 6. “Till The Going’s Gone,” 7. “To Everything,” 8. “Whiskey Business,” 9. “Right Where We Left It,” 10. “A Song To Sing” (with Chris Stapleton), 11. “I’ll Have To Say I Love You In A Song” (Jim Croce cover), and 12. “Sunset Marquis.”
With themes sticking close to her southern country roots, the album covers a full range of emotions.
“I’ve always loved every corner of country music,” Miranda said in a statement. “The heartbreak songs, the honky-tonk songs, the songs that make you think and the songs that make you dance. Making this record reminded me that those things don’t have to be separated. We followed the songs wherever they wanted to go, trusted our instincts and ended up with something that feels really fun and really honest to who I am.”
Besides making music, another thing close to Miranda’s heart is her nonprofit foundation she founded with her mother Bev Lambert in 2009. MuttNation’s mission is to support the adoption of shelter pets, advance spay and neuter, educate the public about benefits of these actions, and provide assistance to shelters during times of natural disaster. Since its inception, the foundation has raised more than $13 million and assisted more than 1,000 shelters. The foundation benefits from a line of pet toys available exclusively at Tractor Supply Company (TSC) stores across the country.
Since 2018, TSC and MuttNation have teamed up for a program called Mutts Across America where they give $5,000 to one shelter or foster-based rescue in each state. Sulphur Springs Animal Shelter, SPCA of East Texas Adoption Center, Friends of Marshall Animals, and Dog Ranch Rescue in Anna are among past year’s recipients.
“Mutts Across America is one of my favorite MuttNation programs because it lets us show our appreciation to the people at the shelters who are doing the hard work every day,” Lambert said in a statement. “And to make it even more special, the grants are always a surprise — there’s no way to apply or be nominated.
Tractor Supply has been such an amazing partner, and we’re so grateful for their commitment to MuttNation and to shelter pets across the country.”
This year in addition to the 50 organizations to receive the $5,000 grants, MuttNation picked a Wildcard shelter, surprising Animal Preservation of East Texas (APET) located in Mineola with a $5,000 check a few weeks ago. APET serves all of Wood County, having provided care and found homes for more than 1,500 animals since opening in 2012.
Among her Crisco tour dates this year Miranda performs October 6 at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth. Get more information on her new album, touring schedule, and MuttNation on www.mirandalambert.com.
